The Sindh Assembly session that meets on Friday at 9 am would be dominated by discussions on water reservoirs, construction of dams, technical report of ANG Abbasi on water reservoirs, elections of naib nazims in Sindh and the worsening law and order situation in the urban and rural Sindh.

The opposition has studied the Abbasi report and prepared its note to highlight the Kalabagh dam issue, its merits and demerits as well as its effect on the national integration.

It has taken notice of the way Abassi was treated by some of the members of technical committee and how they pressed him to write only one page report on the issue.

In the opinion of the opposition, the Abbasi report is a note of disagreement on KBD and is in favour of the construction of reservoirs at other spots. Bhasha is the most supported dam and it should be taken up before work begins on any other dam. The opposition has decided to stage protest and demand of the assembly to once again press Sindh's stand on the KBD issue.

Treasury sources, when contacted to comment on this issue, refused to speak on the subject as they believed that their statement on the strategy of the opposition would adversely affect their relationship with the opposition. They said that they wanted to conduct assembly affairs in 'most congenial manner.'

They said it would be in the fitness of things if the opposition does not disturb 'question hour' and take up other issues in the scheduled manner. They said that the government was aware of things and has already stated its position on KBD. There is no change in its stand and it would not bargain on national issues. "Interest of the people of Sindh would be protected at all cost," they added.
